What is Levemir?
Levemir is a brand name for insulin prescription drugs, namely detemir. Levemr is used as a drug for the treatment of people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
Levemir is a drug for lowering blood sugar in the long run, and encouraging tissues to take in excess glucose, and prevent the body to produce a lot of glucose. Levemir drugs also prevent the breakdown of fat and protein, and help the process of regulating blood sugar.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the drug levemir as a drug for blood sugar patients in 2006. This drug is produced by Novo Nordisk.
Levemir FlexTouch
What is Levemir FlexTouch? This is an insulin syringe and prefilled with Levemir.
FlexTouch is made for ease of use of drugs
Levemir FlexTouch must be refrigerated until you are ready to use it.
If opened, store at room temperature not more than 86 degrees Fahrenheit.
FlexTouch must be removed if 42 days have passed after opening. Regardless, whether it still remains or not.
Levemir Vs Lantus
Levemir is the same as other human-made insulin drugs, insuline glargine commonly sold under the brand Lantus. Both have the same side effects as well as effects on managing blood sugar levels in patients with type 1 diabetes or patients with type 2 diabetes.
If you want to use diabetes medications, consult with your doctor to choose which medication is better for you.
Levemir Warnings
Levemir has a usage limit, you may no longer use levemir if:
- You are allergic to levemir or other ingredients in this medicine
- Your blood sugar is low
Before taking levemir, talk with your doctor, if:
- You are sick, have an infection, are stressed
- You have kidney or liver problems
- Low potassium levels in the body
- If you use certain medications, your doctor can reduce the dosage of levemir such as exenatide (Bydureon), albiglutide (Tanzeum) or liraglutide (Victoza).
Levemir Storage
What about levemir storage? If you have not opened the wine, you can store it at room temperature or in the refrigerator. If it is open, all vials that have passed 42 days must be removed.

Levemir Side Effects
There are some common side effects of liver:
- Low blood sugar
- Pain in joints
- Itchy
- Skin rash
- Lump of fat tissue under the skin where you inject it
- Have a cold
- Having an infection in the nose, throat and airways.
- Swelling in the foot or ankle
- Experience being overweight
- Headache
Some serious side effects from taking levemir:
- Low blood sugar
- Low potassium levels
- Allergic reactions include life-threatening anaphylaxis, (throat and tongue swelling, difficulty breathing, itching or you experience all three types).
Levemir Dosage
Levemir is injected with a syringe pen (FlexTouch) and in a vial where the tone attracts the solution.
You inject this drug into the layer of fat that is under your skin.

Your doctor will give you instructions about which dose of liver you should inject and how often you should inject it.
If you take a dose of levemir twice a day, your doctor may order you to inject it in the morning and at night.
Levemir Overdose
If you feel you have injected excessive amounts of liver or too much, immediately contact the emergency room at 911 or report to the poison control center at number (800) 222-1222.
Missed Dose of Levemir
If you forget to inject liver at one time, try to inject it directly when it is remembered.
If you forget to inject levemir and are close to the time of injection for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose.

Levemir Interactions
If you are taking a lot of drugs, then tell your doctor that your condition is like that.
Including if you consume drugs that are sold freely, vitamins or supplements, herbal medicines and illegal drugs. Everything you take, tell your doctor.
If you use the following medicines, do not use livemir.
- Beta-blocking drugs such as carvedilol (Coreg, Coreg CR), propranolol (Inderal, Inderal LA) or atenolol (Tenormin).
- Pramlintide (Symlin)
- Rosiglitazone (Avandia)
Drugs that interact with levemir very much, maybe some of it you do not need to avoid it, but do not draw your own conclusions. Talk about everything about you with the doctor who handles your problem before you take levemir.
